Does anyone know how many miles a 2003 Ford Focus should last?

I just hit 100,000 miles on my 2003 Ford Focus. I’d like to get a new car, but this vehicle is still running very well. I haven’t had any major repairs with it either, mostly just maintenance. Does anyone know about how many miles a vehicle like this should last for? Thanks!

i just hit 19000 on my 2002 still running fine with just a new belt being changed but i also had oil changed at the reg intervals

About 172 more miles on it. They are fairly disposable cars. Depends on how many miles a year you drive. I personally drive about 30k per year. This car would be dead in a year.

Ignore the other two idiotic answers for your question.. How long your car will last all depends on how you maintain it.. If regular maintenance is done every 3,000 miles it should last you another 100,000 + miles.. It just depends on how you have taken care of the car. I own a Bimmer so not to familiar with FORD as I only am required a 6,500 mile oil change and Bimmer’s last several hundred thousand miles so i will assume yours will too

I have owned several Fords and with proper maintenance they last for a long time. My Escort has over 220,000 on it and is my daily driver. I also have a Pontiac with 300,000 on it. Still driven daily by my son. Do the maintenance and drive reasonable and they will last. I looked at a Ford Escort a few weeks ago that had over 500,000 on the odometer. I know it is not a Focus but they are close enough.

The design criteria for vehicles built in the last 10 yrs is 250k miles, there’s plenty left in yours if it’s been properly maintained. I’d think about having the timing belt replaced if it hasn’t been done yet (assuming it has one, and not a chain), most newer 4 cylinder engines are overhead cam design and use a cogged camshaft drive belt that’s under a cover and impossible to see without some disassembly. 60k miles is the usual replacement schedule for timing belts.

I also own a 2003 Focus and love it. I bought it used with around 83,000 miles on it and switched to full synthetic oil and it now runs better than ever with over 108,000 miles on it and the oil is still coming out relatively clean. So I would venture to say that you and I both have many many more miles in our cars.

Honestly though, things will start breaking down with time, but from what I have seen, read, and heard, there have been no major issues with the Focus starting with the 2003 model year. There will be normal replacements and maintenance needed, but that is to be expected. I would gently plan for a new vehicle, but not expect to need one for several years.

Well taken care of, this car should last you well into the 200,000 mile range and beyond. I once had a pontiac 6000 that had over 230,000 miles and not all of them were gentle.
