How much would you expect to pay for repair of a Head Gasket for a Peugeot 306 "P" Reg….?
Symtems……car had steam coming from engine so my son switch the engine off…..recovery called. He said fan not working, not thermostat…..he suspected Head Gasket….topped up radiator and allowed to drive home (3 miles)
replace fan switch first.
Also carry out a compression test. Low compression on one or more cylinders can be a blown head gasket.
White smoke from the exhaust can also be a blown Head gasket.
A white creamy substance on the underside of the oil filler cap and on the dipstick is a sign of a blown head gasket.
Don’t replace the head gasket unless you are absolutely certain it has blown.
