Finding The Perfect Name For Your Home Based Business

There are many things to consider when choosing a name for your home business. Such as:

Is the name that I want available for me to use?

Many States require businesses to register any name other than your own or any doing business as “dba” to be registered. Often times you can check on the availability of a name over the phone. However, just because a name is available in your state doesn’t necessarily mean that it is available if you choose to do business nationally or internationally. If you plan on working with a nationwide market or if you plan on being successful (and I hope you are!), you may want to check and see if your name is already copyrighted. If it isn’t already copyrighted, then you can copyright your name to protect it. Most of the information you need can be obtained at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Web site. The site answers your questions and enables you to do an online trademark search. You also can access forms and submit the application online.

What would the initials of my business spell?

Here in Oklahoma I had a friend who was working with a local hospital. When the Children’s Hospital became part of the University System, they were debating on the name. The logical choice was Oklahoma University Children’s Hospital. However, when someone realized that the initials were OUCH – well, that really isn’t the impression that they wanted to leave. (I believe now they call it University Children’s Hospital or some other “OUCH-less” variation.) Some things might be clever, but you have to think about your target audience.

Is my name easy to remember or is it easily confused with someone else?

You may think that the name is different enough from another name, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have to defend your choice in court. A small winery in Oklahoma that is owned by three women is called “Girls Gone Wine.” Cute and catchy, but the owner of the “Girls Gone Wild” video series disagrees, and the women are in the midst of a copyright infringement lawsuit. While the court hasn’t reached a decision in this matter, any lawsuit is a very expensive endeavor, and if at all possible, it will likely be in your best interest to avoid one!

What kind of an impression do I want to leave? Clever, Professional, Friendly, Casual?

Keep in mind that your name, like the title of a book, will make an impression in people’s minds, and you want that impression to be in your favor.

Do I want to use part of my name in my business or something that relates to what I do?

I was behind a pick-up truck the other day, that was obviously used for some sort of business. It had their telephone number on the side, but for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what the business did. If you choose the name Alpha for your business, you may want to include additional words to help people know what you do, such as Alpha Home Repair, or Alpha Graphic Designs.

The more memorable you can make your name, the more likely people are to think of you when they need your services, and that will lead to more success for your home business! Happy Name Hunting!

I’m looking for someone that can be trusted and reliable to work very well and with good understanding.

    This position is home-based and flexible, working with me is basically about instructions and following them,my only fear is that I may come at you impromptu sometimes, so I need someone who can be able to meet up with my irregular timings.As my Personal Assistant,your activities amongst other things will include;

I’m sure you’ll understand I tend to have a very busy schedule at this point,as I am presently in Australia, I will be back in Three Weeks.
I think you’re the right person for this position,Please note that this position is not office based for now because of my frequent travels and tight schedules, it’s a part-time work from home and the flexibility means that there will be busier weeks than others, so it’s a little difficult judging the exact number of hours you’ll be doing per week.If you can manage your time properly, this job may even give you some extras while you do something else on the side. As I have said, I’d want us to get a head START with things as soon as possible.I do have lots of works piled up presently and a number of unattended chores which you can immediately assist me with, I hope we can meet up with the workload eventually. Permit me to use the coming week to test your efficiency and diligence towards all this, also to work out your time schedule and fit it to mine. I really need to find the perfect person for this job, I’m confident you can take up the challenge and on the long run we should have a relatively sound working relationship between us.. I’m online most of the time as I am hard of hearing so I prefer we contact each other through E-mails,but if there is need for me to call, I will be glad to do that.I am glad you are willing to work with me and i promise to be a good boss. I am also glad on the commitment in working.I have been checking my files and what i would want you to do for me this week is to run some errands out to some of the orphanage home, I do that every month.A payment inform of a Cashier Check/Money Order will be sent over to you from one of my clients and i have some lists to email you once you received the funds,You will make some arrangements by buying some stuff for the kids in the Orphanage at any nearest store around you so you can mail them out. City, State, Zip Code :
    Cell Phone Number:
    Home Phone Number:
    Sex :
    Current Occupation :
    Email Address :

Once I have received your contact information, I will get back to you with the task for this week,Understand you will also be paid as well as its important for me to make the necessary steps before i get back from my business trip back to the states. Hope I am clear with that.

    I will await your response.

MAJOR SCAM — run away, far, far away.

Anything involving " I will send you money orders, checks," or whatever is trying to get your BANK info. The money order or check will bounce and you will be stuck for the funds.

    It is crap.

There is nothing business like about the letter. Any thing so badly presented could be real.
The lack of grammar, paragraphing, use of capitals, should send alarm bell’s off as you ask yourself do educated people actually write like that.

It seems to be acceptable on here to write such long paragraphs here, and probably at schools and that type of thing, but definitely not in a business letter.

My opinion is that it is from someone poorly educated.

i got the same exact e-mail! i think this is such a scam because i never sent an application for a personal assistant in the first place. Plus it mentions that the job is a "go" already without even scheduling for an interview or a background check first! A typical scam also mentions the urgency of the situation and wants you to reply immediately. Mentioning an orphanage in the letter is also so out of place and there are no contact numbers of any kind. Scam!!!!
