Register subfloor repair

I can’t believe this lasted as long as it did. You can’t use freaking particle board as a structural subfloor. And as you can see I was able to put my foot right through it.

    It depends on the …
    It depends on the direction of the joists. If they are perpendicular to the front of the tub then yes, as long as you get the new subfloor under the tub by an inch or so. If they’re parallel then you pretty much have no choice but to remove the tub and replace any and all rotted framing or subfloor. Or if you have access from below you could run some 2×6’s with joist hangers between the joists basically turning them 90* and making them perpendicular to the tub.

    Can i use that same procedure to fix the subfloor on the outside of a tub where water escaped the side of the shower curtain?LOL it looked simple but…
