Does anyone know anything about how Vauxhall spares are acquired?

We have a W reg Astra which has an automatic gearbox problem. This has been diagnosed as requiring a new gearbox ECU. However, there isn’t one anywhere in the UK. The next place to look is apparently Germany, but that is looking doubtful. Failing that, we have been told that one will have to be manufactured.

I find it inconceivable that a part for a common European car is not available for immediate fitting. Are we being told the right thing or do Vauxhall’s/GM not carry such spares?

The part number is 90560070 in case there are any GM employees out there with inside information.

I am no longer in the trade through illness. However we used to send ECUs away for testing and repair.
There are numerous companies across the UK.
Lucas Service UK were always very helpful and fairly quick, a little pricey though. Lucas have their own branch that deal with ECU.
Find your local Lucas Service UK and give them a call.
