How much do you think I could sell my 1.6 Y-reg Ford Fiesta for? It has a broken head gasket?
I think it will cost too much to repair but it’s only got 42,000 miles on the clock so if someone could fix it they’d have a damn good car.
Just wondered if anyone could recommend a good price or place to sell?
Thanks
If it’s in generally good condition, then it would still be worth a good amount of money as for a mechanic it’s a cheap and easy fix. If you to it to a mechanic, then £300 would probably get you a new HG, so just go and get a couple of quotes as that’s far cheaper than a new car, and at least you know the history of your current car!

Buy a head-gasket kit for about 30 pounds, a Haynes manual, and a socket-set which you should own anyway. Follow the Haynes manual, and you will do it easily inside a day. Take photos, label everything you remove and write down the order. Keep every last nut and bolt in a container, and label THEM too! With the head off, take it to a machine shop to have it checked and skimmed if needed – again, only about 30 pounds. Refit the head, and you will have a healthy car again.
Or buy the gasket on eBay, and have a Mobile Mechanic come out and fit it – find one in your Thompson Local Directory.

simply look up prices for your car for that year and divide by half will get you a ball park figure. it may be worth spending the money having it fixed first. if bodywork is OK the low mileage can then off set mechanics repair costs and you may get a decent payback.
at end of day it singly worth what somebody will pay for it and majority of folk want a road worthy car with a long MOT and in good running order so your market for selling on will be restricted.

Go online and look for blue book value. It will tell how much you car worth now
ask around on how much does it cost to fix it. Call different garage to ask for a quote
subtract the fixing cost from the book value. Add like 10% to the price (so you have some space for bargain)
