How to Stop Damp getting into Ford Mondeo w Reg?

January 27th, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

Hi,

Ive recently obtained a Ford Mondeo W Reg. When the car is left outside im getting Damp in the car, mainly across the rear seats. Also, The central Locking does not work. Only one door opens with the Key, i have no Fob..

How can these be repaired?

Water goes down not up unless the (laws of gravity changed overnight) so it will not be the sills, the door seals or tailgate seal could be leaking, the drain pipes for the sunroof may be blocked. If neither of them you need to find where the water is leaking in and fix it, that is the only way you will stop the damp.

You need a sparky to look at the central locking, could be a number of things.

Are your doors sealing properly? maybe they need adjusting in for a tighter seal.
You could get another fob from Ford dealers, but they are not cheap

Check the sills there is most likely a small crack from age

If the rear seat is getting wet that would point to the tailgate leaking at the top, or maybe the sunroof if it’s got one.

As for central locking, if the battery in the fob is good there’s not really anything you can do yourself unless you know what you’re doing & if you knew what you were doing, you wouldn’t be asking, right?
