I just bought a new computer. Do I need to buy or download a Registry Cleaner?

I read that one can mess up one’s computer by running a Registry Cleaner, so I have not installed any yet in my computer. I also read that computers slows down over time and you need a Registry Cleaner to solve this problem. So what is the best course of action. If I need a Registry Cleaner, which are among the best- free or otherwise?

I use Glary utilities a free program that does it all. Cleans temp files, cleans the registry and also defrags. You want to be careful though too agressive programs can cause serious issues. I also have used Ccleaner but find that this runs faster and does not stumble on FF.

Free advise is not always the best advise even when from techs.
Your computer comes with a few important programs that you need run about once a week. the easiest way for me to get you their is to right click drive "C" and go down that window to properties and click it another window pops up with tabs on the top , go-to tools. Click the button marked DE-FAG. this will take a couple hours to finish so I would do it on off hours.(eg. before you go to bed or on your way out to work.)
As for CCleaner it is good but you have to be careful. It can remove cab files as well as DLL files that seem that they have not been used for a while. This will cause problems in due time.
Download these helpful programs from microsoft " Defender, and Malware removal. " can save you a lot of time and money in the long run. free Anti-virus program from avira.com

with a new computer you’ll be fine without a registry cleaner.

unless you’re installing and uninstalling software constantly you really can’t mess up the registry
to the extent where it’ll slow you down. and registry cleaners can create problems so there’s no need to run one on a pristine setup.

First, you must realize that registry is really important.

Registry loads at boot time, so applications use the registry entries more quickly than use external configuration files at startup. Microsoft designed the Registry to give applications a unified place to store configuration information. However, if registry is too big, it will consume a lot of system resources.

You can go http://www.system-tools-software.com/registry-optimizer/index.html to download a registry optimizer. it will help to fix registry errors and optimize whole system.

    Free ones:
go http://www.ccleaner.com to get a free registry cleaner to scan registry errors.
go http://www.system-tools-software.com/free-registry-defrag/ to download a totally free registry defrag to clean up your registry thoroughly.

You hit the nail on the head with the reason why you need one – computers do slow over time because the registry becomes full of corrupt or damaged registry files. This makes it difficult for your PC to read the files it needs, making it run slower and slower.

There are a lot of registry tools out there, but only a few will be able to fix your PC in the best way possible. These are the ones which are able to find and fix the most problems inside the registry, and give you the ability to make your computer run faster.

We’ve found that the best free registry cleaner is one called CCleaner which you can find at http://www.ccleaner.com and the best paid cleaner is one called "RegAce" which you can find at http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/regace_review.html

while it is true that a new computer will not see immediate benefit from a registry cleaner, you will soon discover that even without installing and uninstalling new applications your registry database will soon clog and fragment from windows update alone (pushed by microsoft as recommended hotfixes or service packs). this will slow down your computer in only a couple of months and also leave the registry file vulnerable to any mishap (Microsoft bug, power failure etc).
CCleaner is a good solution to remove files and orphaned entries from your disk, and it is free.
A more advanced solution can also defrag and optimize the registry, helping to keep your computer fast and safe. You can try Uniblue’s RegistryBooster 2010 (and if you decide it suits you, save on it with a Registrybooster 2010 coupon code from http://www.dtcdeals.com/store/Uniblue-coupon-code.html ). Good luck!
