Which is better when it comes to registry cleaning and defragmenting?

Neither.

I use the de-frag:

and the c-claner tool:

That is all you need.

Registry mechanic is so respectable and contain tons of features like pc defrag, registry cleaner, registry defrag,hd junk cleaner, spyware removal, tweak windows & internet connection, hard disk wiper & secure deletion…..tuneup utilities is nice but contain less features than system mechanic.

Interesting question. I run 3 different registry cleaners and they all seem to pick up something left by the others. Which is the best? How would you know? One thing is for sure Bill pulled off the greatest con of the century with Windows.

I run ccleaner, Registry Mechanic and now this:

There is a school of thought that argues trying to clean the registry and/or defragging the hard drive will cause more problems than it solves and (at best) any performance boost will be minimal and fleeting…
    HOWEVER….

I have used Registry Mechanic for nearly two years and I trust its data base and scanning engine not to mess up my system – it doesn’t try to do too many things and sticks to what it does best – cleaning and optimizing the registry. Tuneup Utilities 2007 is a much broader set of tools and well trusted by many reviewers; I haven’t used it but have used similar products such as Ashampoo Winoptimizer
    http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/php/product.php?session_langid=2&idstring=1606
    and Premium Booster
    http://www.premiumbooster.com/

I’ve been especially impressed by Premium Booster. As for defragging, the best tools tend to be a little expensive:
    O&O Defrag
    http://www.oo-software.com/home/en/products/oodefrag/
    PerfectDisk
    http://www.raxco.com/products/perfectdisk2k/

but both are excellent; a new defrag tool is Paragon Total Defrag
    http://www.paragon-software.com/home/total-defrag/

It is very slow (it took 1hr 20 min to defrag a 40gb drive) but very thorough – frankly I haven’t come across a defrag tool as good as this one.

Auslogics as mentioned above have a good set of free registry/defrag tiools – Disk Defrag, Registry Defrag
