I actually uninstalled these programs and they still appear in the startup tab of the sys config utility. plz suggest a way to remove them.

"To get rid of the extra entries you must edit the registry.

Start regedit (Start->Run and type REGEDIT, then press OK).

Browse to HKLM*\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg

and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder

Delete any items listed in there that you no longer want shown unchecked in MSConfig

*HKLM refers to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"

That said, google ‘clean msconfig’ or somesuch and check out the different suggestions on this. It’s very simple but some peeps are not comfy in the registry. Be careful and you’re alright.

Did you restart your computer after you uninstalled the programs? If not, restart the computer and see if they still show up.

If they are still showing in the startup tab after you restart, then you didn’t get everything removed from the system registry.

Editing the registry is tricky and if done incorrectly can cause your computer to stop working completely.

I would suggest looking on line for the web sites from the software manufacturer and checking for an uninstall tool there. Another option is using a registry cleaner. Here is a free one that I use, and it does a pretty good job. This may not solve the problem but you can try it.
