my pc boots to windows very quickly, but windows itself is starting to get a tad bit clunky while it loads all its startup programs.

what’s a good XP utility to monitor all windows startup activity (registry, etc…)?

answers based on experience only, please. i can do my own google searches, thx.

start/run msconfig, disable any non-important programs.
Also look at start/programs/startup and remove everything you need from it.

Once it’s up, go into the task manager and look at processes. Any that are being run by ‘you’ rather than ‘system’ can general be prevented from starting up.

I use CCleaner. it’s a free download that when you have it loaded, click on the Tools icon on the left, then click on Startup. It will show you all the programs. Click on the program, then delete at the bottom, to stop it from starting up.
