After two years of waiting for action/some result regarding a blatant case of deception by a garage for not following the terms of a written contract regarding a repair (including airbag & steering systems) I have been told too much time has passed despite having contacted them within days of discovering the true state of the vehicle. i have to go higher than local area as they will try to fob me off with some excuse and I have been around the block too often for that!

What is a registry(first of all)?.I have been getting messages popping up saying my registry was damaged/corrupted and that i need to go to this site or another to download this or scan in order to fix it, (though not since they originally did one night, only once) one after another and until i disconnected the internet. I was wondering is this legit? If so, how may i fix this damaged/corrupted registry. I’m running on windows. Help would be appreciated.

It is definitely not legit..

Registry is the vital part of any Windows-based systems. It contains settings of your system and third party applications installed. In most cases, windows won’t boot up properly or may not boot up at all if the registry has been damaged. You have to restore it from a backup (if there is one) or worst rebuild the whole system.

However in your situation, it does not seem to be a corrupted registry but spyware infestation or purely a series of pop-ups as a result of popup blocker being disabled. As advised by others, best way is to not worry about your registry but to enable the built in popup blocker and then run a number of spyware/adware utilities (combination of adaware and spybot search & destroy has been proven to be effective). If problem still persists after, you may want to post back.

Go to Tools, Uninstall.. Uninstall anything you KNOW you dont need.
Also Go to Tools, Startup.. Disable Anything you KNOW you dont need.

Then do Two scans in sections.. Cleaner & Registry.. Remove any Findings.

What happens when you download a software (hardware monitoring utilities) on XP & after running set-up, program starts getting installed & in the end you get a pop up informing that its not meant for this type of mother board !

My question is that Do any type of software component are left over your operating system in this unsuccessful installation ? If yes, how we can detect them & remove from the system completely, as they are useless.

Most of the time, when that message comes up, it did not install into your computer at all. During initial installation, the install program scans the program to get the files ready for installation, if it encounters a problem, it normally stops the installation and delete the files that were supposed to be ready for install.

To ensure complete deletion, do a search on your computer on your entire C drive for the program name. If results come up, then delete everything corresponding with that program name.

Then go to START then RUN and type REGEDIT then hit enter.
Go to the directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then click on Software and make sure the program folder is not in that directory. If it is, then delete it. That will clean it from your registry.

I use Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and CCleaner (both up to date recent editions). Anything better?

After my computer crashed and was repaired, when I got it back, despite it being properly connected, to the printer I have, it won’t print.

Each time I try to print something, a screen comes up that identifies another printer, different than the one I have.
If that is the reason its not working, how do I change it back to print form the HP Photosmart 8150 printer that is connected?

BUT.. before you install the software make sure you removed the usb cable from the back of the printer and then install the software.

I’ve had my laptop for around 4 years and its really starting to get bogged down. I thought maybe it was viruses or spyware that was causing it, but after multiple scans with Webroot and MalwareBytes it has shown no infections. I’ve heard that the registry may need to be cleaned to get the system working faster again- can anyone recommend a good, free registry cleaner?

Ccleaner is pretty nice, but Comodo Registry Cleaner picks up a lot more.

Comodo is new to the market and is free, after scanning with ccleaner, run the comodo, you’ll be surprised with how much it pick sup on it’s first run that ccleaner missed.

Defragging the hard drive is also a good idea when the registry and temp files are removed. The built in windows Defrag utilities work pretty well, but i enjoy defraggler as a free utility.

Run the registry cleaners until they quit finding errors, 1 pass does not do it normaly.
