How can I get a catalytic converter repaired cheaply?
Is there any way to get this fixed cheaply?? I live in an area requiring emissions inspections before you can get your car registered. If not repaired I can’t legally drive my car. Mechanics want $650-$750 to fix it. I live in the metro Atlanta area. Any aid for lower income folks to get it fixed or any way around it? It’s almost more than the car is worth but I can’t afford another.
The US government placed an ban on any exhaust shop installing used catalytic converters, also once an exhaust shop cuts a catalytic converter off a car its not allowed back on the vehicle, although you can go to an exhaust shop and they have generic catalytic converters that flow more and generally for a ob1 car is about 75 dollars a piece and 100 dollars for obd2 the difference between obd1 and obd2 is 1996 and newer is obd2 and older than 1996 is obd1
