Best way to Adverstise my Computer Repair Bussiness?

January 10th, 2013 6 comments

I am going to school for Information Technology, and am opening a compuyer repair shop out of my home. The name is S & S Computer Repair. 956-650-5505. Serviceing the entire Rio Grande Valley. What would be the best way to advertise this and get some results? Any suggestions, or slogans, or logos would be appreciated.

Put a small add for your company at the bottom of your email as a signature.
Recruit your friends to help advertise by word of mouth.
Buy some shirts that advertise your company and wear them everywhere you go.
By the magnetic signs that go on your car. They cost about $60 for two.
Attend The Early Show’s live broadcast they are going to have at the island and hold up a sign.
Register on Rio Grande Valley sites that have free directories.
Buy an membership to Rio Grande Valley Chamber of Commerce and get listed on their website.

What are the stages for sending your xbox off for repairs?

December 15th, 2012 1 comment

What i have done do far is register the device on xbox.com. Am i waiting for an email?
i have not yet received an email from them? i have registered it for sending off.

Did you register to have it fixed? Or just associate it with your name via xbox.com?

In the support center, there should be a link for sending it off. You fill out a form and they ask if you want them to send you a box or if you’ll pack it yourself. Either way, you’re sent a shipping label via email. You affix this to the front of the package your xbox is being shipped in. Make sure to put lots of newspaper or packing peanuts or whatever it is you’ll use to cushion your device. Then you drop it off at UPS and wait for it to come back.

How Can I Fix Activex Errors?

January 19th, 2011 3 comments

There is nothing worse than browsing the web—researching airfare for your next vacation, buying tickets for tonight’s show, watching a news video—and then getting interrupted with an error message such as, “Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.” Or you could be checking your email or downloading music when an ActiveX error pops up. When these errors occur you may be left frustrated and asking yourself, “What is ActiveX, and how can I fix it?” It turns out that your PC is not really in need of an ActiveX repair, but a registry repair.

What is the Registry?

The registry is like a low-level operators manual for your Windows operating system. It stores information and settings for basic functions—its almost like a dictionary. Every time you right click on your mouse for example, your computer accesses the registry, which will “define” the action and tell the computer what to do. The registry has information that is native to the operating system, but this dictionary can also be added to or overwritten. In the event you install a new mouse for example, new information might be added, or old settings might be replaced. An easy way to know if your registry has been altered in any way is if you are required to re-boot your computer (typically after installing new hardware or software).

What is Active X?

Computers allow us to do a lot more than just click a mouse however, and that’s where ActiveX comes in. Certain programs like Microsoft Office, Windows Media Player, or Internet Explorer require very advanced functions, and are constantly changing and upgrading. One way to look at it is that these programs have advanced so much beyond the basic building blocks, they no longer speak English. In order to access the basic information contained in the registry (which they need to function), they need a translator. ActiveX is that translator. ActiveX accesses information stored in the registry, and communicates it to these programs so they can function at the next level.

Problem:

ActiveX is often hard at work behind the scenes accessing the registry for information. These efforts usually go unnoticed and go off without a hitch, but you may be unlucky enough to experience an error. Some common errors are:

• When ‘Downloading ActiveX Control’ your Internet Explorer freezes

• Runtime Error ‘429?: ActiveX Component Can’t Create Object

• Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.

These errors are frustrating but one can see why they might occur. What’s happening is that ActiveX is trying to access the registry, or “dictionary.” But the dictionary has become overcrowded and altered beyond recognition. Picture this: There are now two or three different definitions listed instead of only one. Someone has pasted over sections with new information, and the original text can’t be found. Pages have gone missing, and information has been misfiled. The dictionary is now virtually useless. You are now in desperate need of registry repair.

Solution:

One solution would to go out and buy a new computer (i.e. purchase a new dictionary). Not only is this not a realistic solution financially, but all that new and valuable information would be lost. The ideal solution is to flip through and edit the entire dictionary, page by page. Fortunately, this solution is offered via a software called Reg Cure. Reg Cure is a registry cleaner that uses the most sophisticated technology available to analyze your registry for missing, obsolete, and corrupt entries. It is a safe, effective way to fix your PC registry errors. You can download Reg Cure and scan your computer for free at RegistryRepairProgram.

Don’t let ActiveX errors keep you from accessing your favorite programs. Reg Cure offers you an easy solution to a common problem. There is no need for ActiveX repair, simply use this comprehensive registry cleaner and your ActiveX errors will be a thing of the past.

Registry Utilites Review – Regcure ™

December 29th, 2010 No comments

What is it

Regcure is one of the best-known commercial registry cleaners.

Why you will like it

Regcure is one of the complete registry package you will find in the market. Its features are quite impressive:

  • Registry backup before any change
  • Font file repair (for word processing applications)
  • Dll file repair
  • Routine registry maintenance etc.
  • Option of reviewing entries before the utility actually delete them
  • Resolving and updating application paths (that is when you have moved the location of an application and its shortcut battles to locate it).
  • Uninstall entries. These are common source of headache: old registry entries that did not go away when you uninstalled the application.

These are only a few of its wide range of features. Regcure will be particularly useful to someone looking for a complete registry repair package. You hardly find more complete and comprehensive package.

Why there is better

A “Regcure sucks” Google search reveals quite an interesting history of customer frustration. It goes from “they took my money and wouldn’t let me download the utility” to “Regcure deleted even vital registry objects”.

In all fairness however, complaints about a registry cleaner deleting important registry entries are common to most registry cleaners and can be put to the fact that they are all third-party applications: they tend to get confused and remove share registry entries.

Another common complaint about Regcure is the complete absence of live support. You can always send through a support email but at $30 a download, it’s fair to expect some form of live support from the developers.

Finally, let me add that Regcure is quite pricey, especially considering that there are a couple of excellent registry cleaners available for free download online.

Cant register my xbox to send in for a repair?

December 6th, 2010 3 comments

Whenever i register to send my xbox 360 in for a repair i get to the part that requires me to associate it with my windows ID i will do it ill answer the email, it makes me register it again, then it says "we are sorry but we cannot process your request at this time" something like that. i have tried this over and over and

you can also send it in for repair by calling the service number. this is what i have done (twice). just call 800MYXBOX and tell them your problem, they will likely get you to troubleshoot it first and than the agent will do the rest.

note: when you call, continuously say "Agent" to be transfered to a live agent as the voice automated system can take a long time.

how do i register my xbox for repair?

November 16th, 2010 3 comments

my xbox had three red rings. what does that mean? and what can i do to get it back to working?

Call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX
Tell them whats happening and they will tell you what you will need to do to get it repaired, and all the steps you need to take. It’s not difficult at all.
Most likely you will need to send it to them for repairs. They email you a prepaid UPS shipping label so you can send your xbox to them. Put your xbox in a box, tape it up, put the UPS label on it and take it to a UPS store to be shipped to them.
Then you wait. They say it could take up to 6 weeks, but when mine had the RRoD, it only took 8 days for it to come back to me.
They will even give you a reference number so you can go on the xbox website and check your repair progress.
