Is a registry cleaner really necessary? If so suggestions for the best one?

I get the ads for the registry cleaner and wondered if they are worth it.

Registry cleaners will clean your registry, increasing performance slightly, but also making your system less prone to crashes.

These programs can help you clean your registry for free. I personally like CCleaner and Advanced WindowsCare Personal because they do more than just clean my registry.

1) CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. CCleaner also fixes your registry. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.

2) Advanced WindowsCare Personal is a comprehensive PC care utility that takes a one-click approach to help protect, repair, and optimize your computer.

3) Eusing Free Registry Cleaner is a free registry repair software that allows you to safely clean and repair registry problems.

4) Registry Distiller is a free registry cleaner that will optimize your system by removing obsolete and incorrect information from the registry, resulting in a faster computer that is less prone to errors.

5) TweakNow RegCleaner Standard is a free registry cleaner that will scour your system’s registry for useless/unneeded registry entries and optionally remove these for you. These entries are often left behind after the removal of software, cluttering the registry and possibly hindering your system’s overall performance.

How do I remove a program with a corrupt uninstall, from the registry..?

December 8th, 2012 3 comments

Alright here is the problem. I had been using G Data Antivirenkit 2006 for a while now but then I saw that Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 came out, so I decided to check it out. I uninstalled the G Data Antivirenkit and started to install Kaspersky. But in the beginning of the process it kept saying me that there is still G Data in the registry somewhere. Ive looked and looked, deleted anything I found using regedit but still Im getting the error.

I dont have a fresh copy of the setup file (for G Data) either.
So Im guessing the only solution for me is to either find a way to fool Kaspersky install, make it not look for the already installed products,
or completely remove this G Data Antivirenkit from the registry.
Where would that information be in the registry?
Where does Kaspersky look and say that I have already a firewall install.

Trying to install in Safe Mode doesnt work.

Please help.
Thanks.
still nothing…

Unfortunately the windows installer cleanup didnt find the program Im trying to remove.

I currently have no antivirus/firewall on my system.

The registry cleaners dont find anything.

Isnt there a manual way to remove it from the registry. I tried searching regedit for "G Data" and "Antivirenkit", found several entries and deleted them all but still the same thing.

Its so annoying.

Any other ideas?

Usually there are 2 ways to solve that…
First one is reinstall the corrupted program and uninstall it

and the second is find programs that are called registry cleaners, that delete unused registry keys of uninstalled programs

There are many free out there, so just google "registry cleaner"
and it will remove unused uninstalled keys…

I use TuneUp Utilities 2007 and has registry cleaner but it is not a freeware… It should have a trial version though

How does one clean the registry?

December 7th, 2012 8 comments

In the registry there are strings that one can’t change or touch, what are they to do with? Also the registry cleaners are they worth while or most a scam, as sometime one gets an automatic message saying hey you have such and such registry errors clean them now hmm..?

Listen to the rabbit…
Glary Utilities is a really useful utility program.
However, when you perform the registry scan, you should manually go through the registry items that you are going to be "repairing" and uncheck any that are questionable to you. For instance, when I run a scan, I get lots of entries for Adobe products. I have SC4 installed and it works perfectly, so I uncheck all of those entries that I come across.
I generally only run the registry clean-up tool once a month, or even longer.

You can also run MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware to check for any malware/spyware entries in your registry…

what is the best free PC registry cleaner?

November 30th, 2012 6 comments

I’ve had my laptop for around 4 years and its really starting to get bogged down. I thought maybe it was viruses or spyware that was causing it, but after multiple scans with Webroot and MalwareBytes it has shown no infections. I’ve heard that the registry may need to be cleaned to get the system working faster again- can anyone recommend a good, free registry cleaner?

Ccleaner is pretty nice, but Comodo Registry Cleaner picks up a lot more.

Comodo is new to the market and is free, after scanning with ccleaner, run the comodo, you’ll be surprised with how much it pick sup on it’s first run that ccleaner missed.

After running either of those, i would suggest running "CleanUP!" It is by farsuperiorr to Ccleaner in removing temp files. it can be found at http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?Itemid=223&id=29&option=com_content&task=view

Defragging the hard drive is also a good idea when the registry and temp files are removed. The built in windows Defrag utilities work pretty well, but i enjoy defraggler as a free utility.

Run the registry cleaners until they quit finding errors, 1 pass does not do it normaly.

Can I find a totally free of charge registry cleaner?

I’ve found registry cleaners that are free until they scan your system, then they want to charge you before they get the job done… Right now I don’t have my plastic money with me, and I need to do a registry cleaning as of yesterday. Please help!

I recommend CCleaner. It not only cleans junk files from your PC, but it also cleans the registry. It also has an uninstaller utility. It’s a pretty useful to program to have.

You can save backups of your registry with CCleaner as well.

Also try their Defragler

What is a good program that scans and gets rid of all types of registry errors for free?

i’ve been lookin around on the internet for a program that gets rid of all kinds of registry errors for free, i found some, but they only get rid of a few kinds of registry errors. anyone know of a program that gets rid of all kinds of registry errors for FREE?

A couple of good free multi-tools which include registry cleaners are Advanced SystemCare 3 and Glary Utilities. Each has slightly different abilities. I have used and can recommend them both.

> Glary Utilities: http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html

For just a strictly registry cleaner with no bells or whistles, I currently use and recommend Comodo’s Registry Cleaner.

* Keep in mind that any registry tool can possibly make a mistake and delete a critical file (It does happen, even with the best of them).
So be sure to have which ever tool you choose back-up any changes it is going to make before it makes them.

should I use a registry clearner on my computer?

September 27th, 2012 6 comments

I use ARO, a utility that cleans my computer’s registry. A network administrator I know said it shouldn’t be used. What do you think? It does a great job getting my older computer up and running.

Don’t use it. More often than not causes more problems, and very rarely improves anything.

How can I get rid of my registry errors on my HP Laptop?

November 15th, 2011 1 comment

I’m running Windows 7 and I bought Fit-It Utilities 10 Professional Edition but it can’t fix my registry errors. I contacted HP and they said it’s not covered under my warranty and wanted another $169 to fix it or have me spend $200 with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. I have technical ability so if there is a workable solution out there I can implement it. Appreciate any assistance.

Do you mean Fix-it Utilities? Anyway, not a good program and I wouldn’t worry about so called registry errors. It’s kind of a scam. All registry cleaners or registry "optimizers" do is look for obsolete entries that point to files on your computer that are no longer there or were never there (have yet to be created). The fact a registry cleaner says you have errors means very little. Those kinds of programs don’t fix anything, they just delete information they think is obsolete. It all has no effect on performance.

How to Make Your Computer Working Faster?

February 27th, 2011 10 comments

If you want to have a faster computer and get rid of those sluggish problems and system 32 errors and restarts, you need to fix the registry errors with registry cleaner and keep the registry up to date.

Why do we need a registry cleaner?

A registry cleaner is a program that removes the invalid registry keys like the old entries, fragmented entries, embedded keys, and so on. These registry keys are unnecessary and you can still run the computer, but they will make the system slower and problems crop up frequently with such errors in the registry. By cleaning these keys the software keeps the registry error free and ensuring optimum performance of the computer.

How to choose a registry cleaner for Windows?

There are so many options for you to choose registry cleaners over the internet and what you need to do is to get the best of them. Here are some suggestions for you to choose a useful cleaner.

    * You need to download the registry cleaner for Windows, it means for the Windows version that you are using. For example, if you are using Windows XP as your operating system, you need to download a program that is specifically designed for Windows XP and then you can get the maximum benefit from the software.

    * You should always download a registry cleaning tool that lets you scan the registry manually as well as comes with schedule scanning feature. It will save your time as well as make the use of the software much easier.

    * The software must have the ability to back up and restore the registry that may be of great help in case there is a problem after the registry modified.

How to get the best free registry cleaner software?

You are never short of choices when it comes to registry cleaner. There are so many websites that are offering registry cleaning tools and some of them are available for free downloading. All you need to do is to select the best free registry cleaner and download it for you. There are some websites that are offering the trial version of the software, if you download that, you have to buy the software later to get the full utility after the trial period is over. Therefore, it is better to get the full version. Before making decision, you need to carefully read the specifications mentioned by the vendor at the website.
