I’m running Windows 7 (64-bit).
I used CCleaner and I didn’t find it to solve most of my directory problems. When I was running a program called Registry Mechanic is found a lot of errors, most of which were errors caused from uninstalling. I have a external hard drive and back up my computer regularly.
So why it when I use third party applications that they seem to detect more problems in my registry?

if you want a tune up best go to your local computer store and get them to look at it
your not a computer tech (thats why your asking here)
and thats why I always say you use them you can even break it so then you can boot into the system – your choice

I already have Registry Mechanic 6 installed on my Compaq Presario 5320US and I have found it very helpful at times. However, I see an excellent deal for the System Mechanic 7 at a major retail store and I just want to know if having both software installed would be a redundant or unwise choice to make. I am considering these software choices because of their beneficial system maintenance utilities.
Registry Mechanic takes utmost care of your registry, but System Mechanic looks after your ENTIRE computer (including registry issues). System Mechanic’s registry cleaning may not be that efficient, but it does most of the job anyway. You better get System Mechanic.
Not free scan,but actual repair ? Or free repair after free scan? Why dosen’t XP restore reg. files & programs like 98 S.E. did? Thank You.
Oh, yes. There are literally TONS of free apps that do this. But playing with the registry isn’t something to be taken lightly.

CCleaner and RegistryMechanic both do really good jobs of cleaning the Windows registry. Yes, there are more "thorough" apps, but they may get rid of entries that you desperately need.
CCleaner is free, while RegMech is shareware, and CCleaner also has other functions as well, so it’s probably your best bet.
NTREGOPT simply restores your registry to Windows’ original registry, and compacts the registry as well. It’s also free and can be used in combination with either of the other two.

Please tell me which one to use. I do not want to try all of them making the problems bigger hoping to fix them. I have these 4 softwares and all of them have pretty good resumes.
I was using ccleaner+tuneup+registry easy at the same time and here is the problems: 1.whenever I try to create desktop shortcuts, shortcut names appears with an extra stuff like "shortcut for blablabla" instead of "blablabla".
2.some errors appeared for bluetooth driver etc.
3. and may be some extra trouble that I do not notice
I’m not sure which of them is creating this problem. Which one should I fire? Please help me.

I recently reformatted my laptop, which runs on Vista Home Premium. After which I couldn’t download Skype. The people at Skype told me to download Windows Installer CleanUp utility, but I couldn’t do it either, as I kept getting Error 1606. I was told it was a Registry problem and that I had to get Registry Mechanic. My question is : if I reformat again, will the registry problem be solved?

yes, reformatting will fix everything, but stray away from registry cleaners if your not familiar with them. You could damage your computer very badly.

There are none that are respectably rated 5 stars. This is because "registry diagnostic" software is a total hoax. In 99% of cases, these apps do more harm than good. "Cleaning" the registry does not improve system performance.
For the remaining 1%, where the registry is actually messed up and is hindering the system, you can use something like CCleaner or RegDelNull to fix it (both free).
